QuickMonth Calendar
QuickMonth Calendar is a freeware program which displays a small calendar on your Windows desktop whenever your mouse hovers over the clock in the system tray. The calendar display may also be toggled on and off by using the Windows+Q keyboard shortcut or a different key combination that you specify.
Get QuickMonth Calendar now by visiting the download page. QuickMonth Calendar is free and does not include any adware or spyware.
NOTE: Some antivirus programs have incorrectly detected QuickMonth Calendar as a Trojan horse. Do not be alarmed — this type of erroneous detection is called a false positive. If you receive an virus warning message regarding QuickMonth Calendar (qmc.exe), please report the false positive to your antivirus software manufacturer so they can update their definitions.
Features
Here are a few of QuickMonth Calendar's features:
- To quickly jump to today's date, right-click on the calendar or left-click the bottom of the calendar where it says "Today."
- Use the buttons at the top of the calendar to change the month. You can also left-click on the name of the month to see a popup menu of all the months (see example 1).
- Left-click on the year to quickly change the year (see example 2).
- The calendar automatically detects the location of your Windows taskbar, so if you move the taskbar to the top, left, or right side of the screen, the calendar will still display next to your system tray clock (you may have to restart Windows once for the change to take effect).
- The look of the calendar changes according to what your system colors are (as determined by your current Windows theme or visual style).

@Richard Straus: Today's date should display the same as whatever you have set for the short date format in your Windows control panel (Regional and Language Options). Change your setting there and see if that fixes it. You may have to exit and restart QuickMonth Calendar after changing your date format.
Justin Rodes on 16-May-08
@Mindblower: Yes; in the Windows XP control panel, open Regional and Language Options. Hit the Customize button. Select the Date tab. Change the short date format to how you want it, then click OK.
I like the tool very much. Two questions: 1.) Would it be possible to display the number of the week as well? 2.) How can I find out what command line options are available?
Christian Harraeus on 26-May-08
Hi, very nice and helpful program. The only thing that is missing is the calender-week in front of each week. Could you add this please?
Best regards,
Christian
Looks nice - very useful tool, but doesn't works with the taskbar placed on the top of the screen.
Just tried this software. I like it. Some feature requests
1. A command line option to set the language/locale. I use the program on a German language Windows 2000 OS. But the UI language is set to English. But QMC shows the month names and "Today" in german
2. I think there is a minor bug in the right click pop up menu. When i right click the the first time it shows a popup menu with options "About...", "Go to today" and "Exit". If i move the cursor and right click again it will show a popup with one option "Gehe zu Heute" !!
3. Some options to copy the date and/or time in some pre sepcifed format
Just this morning, Symantec is also flagging qmc.exe as a "downloader" virus and deleting it. Why all these false positives?
Any chance to (otionally) add week numbers before the first column of this nice tool?
nice program!!
small feature request:
could you show a column for the calendar week?
thx!
Hi,
your software is really great! I have always wished me something like that. It is very useful.
But I have one suggestion: I wish me that it is possible to display the week number in front of each week.
Thanks for this good software!
Your excellent Calendar works perfectly with W98SE.
I have Firefox 2.0.0.14 so may I ask if there is a link to
your Firefox Find program which is compatible?
Justin Rodes on 27-Jun-08
@Jan, Christian Harraeus, Klaus, Brater, Robin: The command line options are listed in the readme.txt file that comes with QuickMonth Calendar. When I get the time, I will also put them online.
@jrock: If you restart Windows it should work fine.
@sangfroid: Thanks; I will consider this for a future version of QuickMonth Calendar.
@Mike: I'm sorry, Find All is only compatible with Firefox 3.
Pretty good program. Thanks!!
QMC displays only for administrator. Please provide instructions to display QMC for other limited users on the same computer.
I like your program, but I use a replacement for the Taskbar/System tray. I cannot find a command line option to show the calendar immediately. Is there a way to do this? If I hit Esc should it close the program?
Thanks in advance,
David Crossmier
P.S. Neat, as a programmer, I like your anti-spam mechanism below of a math operation!
I'm getting an error message when running QuickMonth on XP Home:
qmc.exe
Error: "q" is not a valid key name. The current thread will exit.
Pretty nice tool, I would also like to see the number of the current week.
Best regards

@David Crossmier: Currently the only way to force the calendar to show is by using the keyboard shortcut. The calendar may not work if you have a taskbar replacement. Esc does not exit QuickMonth Calendar, only the context menu 'Exit' option does.
@Moshe Pack: Thank you for the error report. I will check into it.
Thanks for this nice program.
One comment: to show the calendar week would be an interesting feature.
I found the solution to the problem I mentioned earlier. Run qmc with the /nokey switch. It's possible that there was a conflict with the default Windows+Q keyboard shortcut.
>>I'm getting an error message when running QuickMonth on XP Home:
>>qmc.exe
>>Error: "q" is not a valid key name. The current thread will exit.
This little utility is great. It does need a means to check the version. That way, we can tell if the version posted to your site is newer than the one we have running.
Jim
thanks, Justin for providing this very useful tool for free.
- works fine with TrendMicro Virus Scanner !
- the cream on top of the strawberries would be, if you could provide the # of the week. maybe this is a bit complicated as in Europe, we start the week with Monday and it seems in US still with Sunday?
- Of course, I'm letting friends hear about QMC.
thanx again
Ulrich
Great program, thanks. And the blue windows theme at the top of the page looks very cool. Where/How can I get it?
I often switch resolution (1240x800 Laptop to 1240x1024 on external screen).
Could you please detect this and adjust? ;-)
Thanks a lot
Holger
Justin Rodes on 24-Aug-08
@Jim: Right click on the calendar and choose "About..." to see the version number.
@Ulrich: There is a command line option for showing the week number. The next version of QMC will have an easier way to set the options.
@adam: That theme is called Royale Remixed. It shouldn't be too hard to find if you search for it.
@Holger: There isn't any way I know of to detect resolution changes on the fly--sorry!
@Imtiyaz Yusuf: Unfortunately the calendar itself is limited to displaying in the language of your Windows installation.
I am closing the comments. If you need to contact me about QuickMonth Calendar, please use the "Contact" link at the top of the page.

@Ryan: It listens to the mouse cursor position to see if it is hovering over the system tray clock. There is probably a more efficient way to do it. I have an idea--I will look into it.
